Kansas City Chiefs State They Are Aware of Alleged Abuse Claims Involving Wide Receiver the Athlete

The Kansas City Chiefs issued a statement on Wednesday evening indicating they have knowledge of domestic violence allegations circulated in online accounts by a former girlfriend of wide receiver Rashee Rice and had been in contact with the NFL.

The organization omitted the name of the player specifically in their announcement and stated they would have “no further comment at this time”.

Claims Shared on Social Media

The woman, who likewise did not name the athlete by name, shared a set of images on social media that seemed to depict signs of physical abuse. She did say the individual in question was the parent of her kids, and it is known she has two children with Rice, whom the Chiefs selected in the 2023 draft.

Official Complaints Reportedly Unavailable

No official complaints were on file in Overland Park, Kansas where the alleged abuse is said to have occurred.

Rice's Recent Legal Issues

Rice was absent for the initial part of this NFL campaign due to an NFL suspension for his role in instigating a crash on a Texas roadway that resulted in several individuals hurt. Rice was sentenced 30 days in jail and five years’ probation after entering a guilty plea to felony charges.

Statistically, Rice concluded the season with 53 catches for 571 yards and five touchdowns as the Kansas City went with a losing record and failed to qualify for the postseason for the first occasion in a decade.
