A female indicted with stalking Kate McCann reportedly recorded her a recorded message which asked: "imagine I am Madeleine?"

The defendant, twenty-four, who court testimony revealed has consistently asserted she was the disappeared Madeleine McCann, and her co-defendant are on trial accused with harassing Kate and Gerry McCann between June 2022 and February this year.

On Monday, the tribunal was told communication data and evidence obtained from phones documented Ms Wandelt consistently asking Madeleine's mother for a genetic test over the past two years.

Madeleine's disappearance in 2007 - when she was three years old during a trip in Portugal - is considered the most publicized child disappearance cases and is still open.

'I Do Not Need Money'

One recorded message, presented in court, captured Ms Wandelt saying: "I understand I'm fat and plain like Madeleine had been, but I believe what I believe."

While another instance of Ms Wandelt's recordings with Mrs McCann's voicemail said: "What if there is a tiny probability that I am Madeleine? What then? Wouldn't that be crucial for you?"

"I am not seeking money, I maintain a living here in Poland, I just want to know," the recording stated.

The panel was told that by means of emails, SMS messages and phone calls, Ms Wandelt demanded a biological test, sent childhood photos to her phone in a effort to display a likeness to Mrs McCann's vanished daughter, and stated to have "memories" from a early life with the McCanns.

Robert Jones, a data specialist with Leicestershire Police who collated the information, informed the court there "didn't appear to be any answers" from Mrs McCann.

Ms Wandelt additionally reached out to close associates of the McCanns, based on the phone records.

On 9 October 2024, Mr McCann responded to a phone call from Ms Wandelt to his wife's phone, saying she had "incorrect contact information."

On that occasion Ms Wandelt left a voicemail on Mrs McCann's voicemail declaring "I will continue and I plan to establish my point."

The court heard the co-defendant developed a relationship through digital means with Ms Wandelt preceding accompanying her on a trip to the McCanns' home in the county in that winter.

Phone records showed Mrs Spragg had reached out using communication app to Mrs McCann to say the news outlets had characterized Ms Wandelt as "emotionally disturbed" but that she should be treated respectfully in the months preceding the appearance to that location, the county, in December 2024.

The court was told correspondence between the two defendants, in last November, planning attempting to get Mrs McCann's genetic material from her garbage or from silverware at a dining venue.

"We need to make a stand," the co-defendant advised Ms Wandelt.

On the evening of the visit to their home, Mrs Spragg transmitted a communication which said: "We find ourselves sitting near the McCanns' residence with our headlights off similar to investigators. I desired to achieve this with another person I hadn't anticipated I would be engaged in this with the McCanns."
